Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting an impactful two-day event aimed at tackling the challenges students face in the job search process. From identifying key obstacles to brainstorming practical solutions, the workshop was designed to provide students with the tools they need to make their job search more effective and ultimately succeed in their careers. Here’s a quick recap of the highlights from the workshop:
Day 1: Business Lounge with Siili Solutions & Career Coaching by Anni from OP
We started the event with a Business Lounge session featuring Ville and Aleksi from Siili Solutions, who shared valuable insights about the tech industry and the skills required to succeed in this competitive field. Students had the opportunity to ask questions, learn about industry expectations, and engage in discussions about career development.
After the Business Lounge, we had Anni from OP lead a coaching session on career changes and personal identity. Anni guided students through understanding how career transitions can affect one’s sense of self and how to navigate the challenges of finding a new career path. This session provided students with practical strategies for overcoming self-doubt and embracing new opportunities with confidence.
Day 2: Hands-On Workshops and Solutions for Job Search Challenges
The second day started with a delicious breakfast, giving students a chance to relax and prepare for the workshop ahead. We then moved into the workshop portion, which was all about identifying and addressing the challenges students face when job hunting.
In the first part of the workshop, we focused on identifying job search challenges. Students reflected on their personal experiences with job applications, interviews, and the overall process. We reflected upon the frustration and uncertainty many students feel when faced with obstacles like interview anxiety or a lack of job experience. The group discussed common struggles, such as feeling unprepared for interviews and the difficulty of standing out in a competitive job market.
After identifying these challenges, we moved on to finding practical solutions. We discussed how Kood/Sisu’s recruitment service can play a crucial role in addressing many of these obstacles. The conversation focused on actionable steps that students can take to streamline their job search process. For example, we explored how CV clinics can help students refine their resumes, ensuring they highlight the most relevant skills and experience to potential employers. We also talked about the value of interview preparation workshops, where students can practice common interview questions, receive personalized feedback, and build confidence in their ability to present themselves effectively in interviews.
In the final part of the workshop, we introduced practical tools and resources that students could immediately use to improve their job search. Students reviewed their own CVs and then provided feedback to each other, helping one another refine their resumes and gain new perspectives.
During the two days, students received real-world advice from industry professionals, helping them understand what employers are looking for and how to align their job search strategies. Through discussions, brainstorming, and hands-on exercises, students actively participated in finding solutions to their challenges. By the end of the workshop, each student had a clearer understanding of how to improve their CV, prepare for interviews, and take concrete steps toward landing their first job or internship.
