Experiencing the event
The kood/Sisu students gathered the attendees in Discord and formed a group for the event. All of them met each other on the school’s first Selection Sprints and started their studies in early 2023.
“It was a fun experience to attend with our peers. It was also nice to see each other since every one of us doesn’t live in the same city. We had time to hang around during the event and meet other people”, one of the attendees Maria commented.
“I’d say that was an intense experience for my first participation in the hackathon. Since it was impossible to prepare in advance, we planned to get as much experience and impressions as possible. We held all three days of the marathon, including the final stage of voting and the ceremony of announcing the winners”, another member of the team Tanja, adds.
Hackathons are a big part of the developing scene.
“In the event, there were different challenges where we could pick one and try to innovate a solution. Since we are first-year students, we are not that experienced or specialized yet, so we might attend again next year!”, Maria says.
“I’d recommend hackathons to all kood/Sisu students and taking into attention forming a team with different skills: not only coding but also design, and project management skills will also come in handy since presenting your idea is an important component. When working on challenges, I found it useful to have git skills. Brainstorming with the team was important and everyone demonstrated our strengths in forming a solution”, Tanja commented.
When kood/Sisu team was just beginning with the School, they visited Junction 2023 and thought how cool it would be to see the students attending the event and here are! We are so proud of you guys 🫶💜
